It was raining cats and dogs around 4 am. The wind was so strong that hissing sound and raindrop beating against the windows could be heard. Keane was sleeping very soundly, totally oblivious to what was going on.
Hubby was on night shift and was not at home. Just last Friday 24 Oct, a partition (false wall) had been made in our living room because the contractor had to hack our windows and wall for the lift upgrading. The partition will only be removed on 1 Nov.
Suddenly, I heard a LOUD bang and things seemed to fall apart! I let out a scream! I turned to look at Keane who was still sleeping. Glad that I did not wake him up! I gathered myself and went outside to take a look. To my horror, the partition had fallen off! Our light had been hit and shattered glasses was everywhere!
"Mummy," I heard Keane saying. Before I knew it, Keane was already standing right behind me.
"Stop!! Stand right there!!" I yelled.
Keane stood there, with hands stretched out. He was asking me to hug him.
"Rain rain! Blow! Blow!" Keane said innocently. I pointed to him the collapsed partition and the shattered glasses. I also warned him against stepping into the living room until all is cleared to prevent injuries. He looked at the mess and said, "Vacuum!!"
I carried Keane back to the room and called hubby but to no avail. I then called the construction site and the man told me that they will come up first thing the workers report to work at 8 am. 8 am! That means I had to guard the living room until they arrived??? I finally got hold of hubby by calling his company handphone. He rushed home. He called the site again and the workers came over not long after that! I guess women tend to be bullied at times!
Here are some pictures that hubby took.
This partition was done on 24 October.
Collapsed!
Notice that the sky outside is still DARK! The sun is not even out yet!
UHHH! Our speakers!!
Workers coming in and out to clear our mess...
We spent the rest of the day cleaning, painting, sourcing for lights (the contractors compensate us of course!) etc. Workers came in and out to settle our problems. Mother also came over to look after Keane and dad came over after his work.
Coming to think of it, I am really glad that the incident took place early in the morning when none of us were in the living room. Keane was also not frightened by the whole thingy! I thanked the Gohonzon and offered prayers to my deceased mum -Today, 30 October, is my mummy's 18th Death Anniversary. Do watch over us.
