The teachers said that Keane has a good command of both English and Chinese and has good articulation. Keane is friendly, helpful, kind and enjoys Show and Tell session which he gets to come out and share. Keane also has a lovely voice and loves to sing.
Keane would also raised doubts on why he had to do certain things the teachers told them to, and sometimes, he'd refused to do as instructed if he was not convinced... I explained to the teachers that he had done lots of crafts since young, and could be the reason why he didn't feel like doing the same things. But of course, I understand that this cannot be an excuse for him to refuse teachers' instructions. Not only that, Keane also tends to lose focus while the teacher is teaching; he always wanted to talk and come out to share... I told the teachers that at home, Keane would sit down and have lessons with me, he'd also tell me what he wants to do. In school though, he's only thinking of playing with friends and thus, resulting in sloppy work. I also shared with the teachers that at this moment, Keane enjoys and prefers to do tracings, writings and matching. However, I do understand that they have their own frame and curriculum to follow.
After the home visit, I told Keane strictly that he had to obey his teachers and listened to what the teachers say, and that I don't want sloppy works from him. I told him that there is time for play, and time for work. He nodded and told me not to be angry. Ha! I explained to him that I wasn't angry, I just want him to obey his teachers and focus on his work. Of course, the most important thing of all, is that he must enjoy going to school.
I believed today's home visit had benefitted the teachers and me. :)
