Keane will be celebrating his 2nd birthday in advance on 9 November Sunday at home!
He now has a clearer idea of what a birthday is, and that cake, candles, balloon, pinata etc are part of a birthday celebration.
Upon recollection, I was very vex when he turned one last year; whether to get a buffet, who to invite and stuffs like that. I was very glad then that my parents were there to help up in Keane's one year old birthday celebration - providing chairs, satays, water dispenser, plates, tongs etc. Dad even bought a set of books for Keane. Really appreciated it!
However, this year is no better. Despite the experience last year, I was still vex. I started to plan as early as June, but only to put into action on late September. I thought of inviting his playgroup friends, but I doubt the parents are willing to come as they are still too young, and even if they do come, the parents will definitely tag along. Our house is not that big to accomodate so many people! Having them over also means that I have to plan activities for those toddlers! Heh! I then searched the internet, joined mums' forum for ideas and found many desirable sites! Problem is, entertainment birthday packages are not cheap and are better received with kids over 5 years old. Keane and his friends are still young yeah. For Keane to really enjoy his birthday will be around pre-school age. when both his physical and social skills are developed. I promise myself that I will hold a theme birthday party for him then!
I've also looked for places where I can hold Keane's birthday - chalet, Safra Club, CC and RC. After taking the cost and timing into account, I settle for home, like last year. (So much for the trouble!) Although much cleaning up have to be done at the end of the day, I think it's still more economical and best to hold the celebration at home considering so many factors. Keane can retire to bed after the celebration too!
I guess before Keane turns 5, his birthday celebration will be more of a get-together of relatives, leaders and some friends. Hence 9 Nov will just be a normal birthday celebration with no kids' theme party or birthday package signed up. Keane shall celebrate his birthday again with his friends in the playgroup on the actual day 12 Nov.
